Is that just easier to use Custom post type plugins than self-coding?

Of course the plugin but self coding it isn't difficult either. Normally I like to code everything but the custom post type plugin is made so well that id rather use that then self code it.

How do you do it ? Cant figure out from the codex and Zach doesnt even mention it.
