Is the world moving to smart devices?

In my city I noticed that the use of laptops and computers has decreased while the use of tablets, mobile phones, etc. has increased. I don't know if this is the same thing in your cities and countries? And what do you think of the next few years regarding this? I was looking for worldwide statistics on this but I didn't find.

Yeah but, they will never replace things like laptops and computers (well maybe in 15 years + ). They can live in harmony along side each other.

You are right. I was asking this because I want to know if learning web design/development is a good idea to continue with or should I move to the world of smart devices!

Hmmm.... Learning webdesign / development is definitely a good idea. Web design as you will see later on in your treehouse courses starts designing with 'mobile first' in mind. So essential any page you are creating on the web is already mobile ready. So by learning modern web design you technically are learning the world of smart devices as well :)

I second this. Designing these days without thinking about making it responsive is short sighted but computers are still actively in use and I believe that computers will be used for a long time for at least the fact that computers have bigger processors and larger screens (which is great for a lot of media sites).
