Is their a way to reset a track?

Hello;

About a year ago I did some of the JavaScript Track but then stopped using this website. I would like to get back in to this track, but do it from the beginning.

I do not know if already completing it affects the program in any way, such as the code being from where you last left it off from, which in my case was a year ago.

Sorry to say, we presently don't have the option to reset a track. It was offered at one point, but it was making a mess out of some data for us, so it's been halted for the time being. As others have mentioned, you can delete the previously associated Workspaces and then start at the beginning of a track. This is the best option for now.

I don't know any way to reset the chapter completion flags, but you can go directly to the workspaces and delete all the workspaces associated with your courses. Then, when you reach that part of the course again and launch the workspace, you'll get a fresh one with all the initial files.

Update: It seems the staff now has the ability to reset progress. Here's an excerpt from a FAQ page that was posted in July:

Upon request, we can reset a portion or all of your content. Please note, when resetting only a portion of one’s completed content, you are limited to 3 courses or 3 tracks or a combination of the two, as for a full account reset, this can only be done once and cannot be undone.

Please send an email to help@teamtreehouse.com and include a link to the course(s) or track(s) that you’d like to have reset, or if you would like to reset the account progress entirely to start over from scratch.

I believe you can reset your workspace, but you can't reset whether you've completed a track.

One of the reasons this kind of matters is CodeOregon requires us to do 300 points of work each month. Many times, I want to retake courses (and some I do) but retaking courses means no point gains which doesn't translate to CodeOregon. This means I have to constantly take new course for points to get added. Many times, I have to explain, I took a whole JavaScript course again but it doesn't show up for them as points or hours. Of course, I benefit but there's no digital record for them to prove I'm meeting their requirements.

I'm not familiar with "CodeOregon". So it's a program that credits you based on Treehouse points?

But now you know you can get reset with staff assistance.

Correct. CodeOregon pays for our subscription to Treehouse but only if we're actually using the site. Otherwise, they cancel our subscription. I get sent a notice every month saying "Congrats you got enough points!" or "You didn't get enough points" with a warning. I've written them a few times (they have great support, btw) explaining I've been coding but mainly reviewing old courses I've taken. I don't get credited points when I'm reviewing.

Anyway, good to know about the staff able to reset our courses. I will make that request for the Front End track and Python courses I've taken but I really need to take again! : )

Thanks, Steven!
