Is there a better way to navigate to the courses I'm working on?

So with this new track update I just got locked out of accessing the courses I was in the middle of taking. Its only when I try visiting the track page. This was my go to navigation for staying focused. I was locked out for not completing the prerequisite courses, which I don't need because I'm a front end developer trying to learn the backend/database. Right now I have to browse the library to find the courses that i'm in the middle of and it's inevitable that I will forget or lose focus on these courses.

Is there a way to make your own track with the courses you want to take? That would be really helpful for me to plan out and stick to what I want to learn. I may have missed something where you could add your courses to the homepage but I am unsure. Any suggestions? Thank You for reading.

Hey Brandon, I am newbie here, only started few days ago, but I have my courses listed on my home page. However I do agree that it would be nice to see something like "my library" or "favourites" - similar to tutsplus.com for example that allows the user to save courses for future reference.

Projects and Tracks are listed on the home page.

However, the Tracks on the home page are now only allowing you to the next incomplete segment of the Track. So if you have skipped ahead to another segment of the Track that is now locked (awaiting completion of other segments), you can no longer access it via Tracks on the home page either.

Just in case you haven't seen the other threads, these issues have been fixed as of 4pm PT. As far as favorites/playlist/queue functionality, we agree with you. Stay tuned! :)

Yeah, I am having the same problem now with the update to Tracks. Being locked out of certain parts of Tracks is not a wise move. The Tracks themselves are great, especially when you are looking for what would be considered the fundamental learnings of a particular area.

But if I am confident I know certain parts of a Track, I had the freedom to skip it and move on to the next part. Now this is locked and I am forced to waste time completing stuff I already know in order to unlock the content I need to learn.

Why did you take this freedom away from us Treehouse?

I don't understand why they did this! What is the point of making it locked? There's no benefit, even for those that want to and are following the tracks without skipping anything, surely they are smart enough to go in order if that's what they want to do -____-. Just grayscaling them out would have been fine, but why make them unclickable? Sigh.

It makes me think to much as a user . I love the amount of content on this site but the organization and navigation could use some work.

Brandon,

This was a bug and was fixed earlier today! Hope that helps!

Each course you are currently in progress is shown on your home screen to remind you what courses you are currently working on. Or am I missing something?

For me it looks like the home screen populates with the tracks and the courses that I am taking, however It doesn't populate with the courses that are within the tracks that I am taking. I used to be able to navigate through the tracks to the courses pretty simply but now since the track update this is now locked and I have to find a different way to the course. It could be that I'm just lazy but I feel there should be a quicker way from home screen to course.

There's a whole thread devoted to the re-design of tracks, you can give feedback directly to the Treehouse designer Daniel Lewis who re-designed tracks.

Update

> If you had previously completed a course in a Track before the update, or a course was in progress but is now in a locked tier, those courses will now appear as unlocked so that you can complete/review them within the Track itself. However, if there are still courses within the same tier, those will be locked. We want you to stick to the path we've set out. As I said, more tools will be coming for those that just want to use Tracks as a broad overview.

The update has resolved my issue. Thank you for your responses, very helpful.

Hey guys, I'll pop in over here because why not! The idea of a queue of sorts for the Library is something I've been a big fan of for awhile now. We'll see what happens :) As for the Tracks-related concerns, definitely check out the other thread where I've hopefully been thorough about explaining our intentions. Thanks!
