22,989 PointsIs there an old PHP course that is no longer available?
I am looking at the leaderboards and there are several top people with 2,446 achievement points. I have taken all the PHP courses, watched all the videos and completed all the challenges and I only have 2,294 achievement points. Is there an extra course some where that gives you PHP points but isn't marked as PHP or a discounted course?
Any in-sight would be nice :) Thanks!

38,443 PointsYou have to consider that the point system is buggy at times; or points are updated to be increased or decreased for certain questions and challenges . Sometimes you get get +12 points when you're suppose(?) to get +6 points, and vice versa. I have have a few courses I have completed where I'm somehow missing 50 or so points. However, I also have courses where I have 30 or more points extra. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter..

37,033 PointsI would bet that the people who have more points in php have well voted answers on the forum.

22,989 PointsNope. If you hover over their points, the top says 2,446 achievement points, and the bottom says x forum points.

42,016 Pointsit could be from forum post answers and upvotes. 12 points for best answers, 1 for upvotes. They add up quickly. I dont think any of the PHP courses have been retired

21,699 PointsCourses done lately have been really buggy about points. I myself have done all JS courses, and had more achievements points than any other person on top10 of leaderboards, but last couple weeks, people who had just joined treehouse, like 2 months ago, so they couldn't possibly have done any course I didn't got about 200 more achievement points that I do.

33,856 PointsAs far as I can tell, there's only been one course which has been retired, and I'm thinking you can still take it and earn points.
P.S. Logan, I think your topic might rather be more geared towards General Discussion, since PHP is more about learning PHP, which others would earn points for helping with.

42,016 Pointsthe smells like bakin courses have been retired. Im not sure if they are available any more or not.
Dustin Matlock
33,856 PointsI think that course is here, but I don't see if it was retired or not, unless there were more parts of that project. It's been since I took that one.
Logan R
22,989 PointsHave they? I can still access them (Doesn't mean they haven't been retired) or it's a different course that has the smell like bacon as the website.
Stone Preston
42,016 Pointsah it looks like they have been retired from tracks. they are still available though

39,199 PointsI'm not exactly sure how points are awarded have you done Database Foundations and Console Foundations they are on the PHP track.
Logan R
22,989 PointsI have done a little bit of both, but I am 99% sure they count towards dev tools :/
Do you get PHP points for completing the PHP track? I have never actually finished a track before.

Treehouse TeacherLogan;
The other possibility is that in looking in the forum and filtering only PHP related questions, it seems that there are quite a few PHP tagged conversations in relationship to various WordPress courses. Perhaps somewhere along the line we got PHP points while learning to code in the WordPress track?
Just a thought.

Treehouse TeacherHello all, I was noticing as I was going through another course that if I skip videos and just take the quizzes and do the challenges to get badges I don't get all of the points possible for the course. For example in the PHP Basics Course, there are a total of 311 points possible. I didn't watch 13 of the videos in that course as the quizzes and challenges in this course were a bit of a review for me personally. As such I only got 295 points for this particular course
Further, in courses in which I have gone back to watch the video(s) again, I have more points than it shows are possible. Not sure if that is from forum points, but in the Laravel course I have almost 100 more points than it states the course is worth. I know I have reviewed some of the Laravel coursework, but can't image that I have rewatched the videos 100 times.
Just a thought...

22,989 PointsThis is a good point. I have several courses that are like 100-200 points over what it says the max is. I hope that isn't the case though, or else it's a tad sad :(

38,443 PointsHey, I'm also pretty sure that when you pass a question challenge, meeting the requirements (say 4/5) without any previous fails, you get +12points. If you have already failed the challenge, and decide you want to come back and try again, the max you can get is +6 points.
So say you've taken a course, failed all the question challenges, and decide you want to go back and retake it. If the totals points you can earn are, +120 from question challenges and +120 from objective challenges, now your total points you can earn is +180 instead of +240.

33,856 PointsI'm not sure about that. It doesn't seem like if you fail a quiz, and take it again, you'd be receiving half of the points.

38,443 PointsIt's happened to me, recently on the Swift basics course.
I failed one quiz that I assume had 12 possible points; considering all others did. I redid it, and only received +6 points. My overall score after completing the course is 392/398.

33,856 PointsA lot of timesquizzes only offer 6 points, and I don't think this is how the Treehouse point system works. Maybe Jeremy Jantz, Kyle Meyer, or Alan Johnson can confirm some of this so there's no confusion. No mention on how points are subtracted when a challenge or quiz is failed.

22,989 PointsAll quizzes give 6 points, and all code challenges give 12.
I thought he said he failed a code challenge and got 6, if you failed a quiz and got 6, that is normal. Sorry about that.

38,443 PointsToday I decided to rewatch some of Randy's PHP videos. For some reason, for every video I rewatched, I received 1pt. For a moment, I thought I was receiving up votes, but due to it being 3:15 am, and the points only go up after a video is watched (before refresh), I think this is the source. Someone else try it out.

22,989 PointsYep, I noticed that a few days ago. If I watch a video, I get 1 point.
Edit: I think you've done it. I went back and watched the Randy videos, and I get a point for every one I watch, but not rewatch. I think they have added a thing where you get 1 point for each video you watch and it was implemented after I watched those videos.
