JavaScript JavaScript and the DOM (Retiring) Making Changes to the DOM Modifying Elements

Is there something I am missing? please help

Seems like a straightforward question but when I check work, it gives an error. Am I missing the point?

app.js
var inputValue = document.getElementById('linkName');
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="content">
            <label>Link Name:</label>
            <input type="text" id="linkName">
            <a id="link" href="https://teamtreehouse.com"></a>
        </div>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>

This is the question:

"Select the <input> element with the ID linkName and store its value in the variable inputValue. "

1 Answer

The challenge wants inputValue to be the value attribute of the input element.
