Is this a typo?

What happens when a function is called with fewer arguments than are defined in the function?

I don't understand the statement above. Is the "than" a typo? Could someone explain the mean of this sentence to me?

It looks like it is asking what happens if you call a function, but do not provide enough arguments.

Example: A function that requires you give it 3 arguments, but you only give it 2. What will happen?
