Is this just phrased very badly or is it me?

How is the number random if it has been provided by a user? I've replayed his instruction a few times and still no idea what he is asking me to do hahaha. Is it just me or is it very unclear?

Hei James, as far as I understand Dave the number the user will provide is only the upper limit. Therefore, the number that will be displayed is random.

Thanks. I just skipped ahead to the answer and was even more baffled as to how he thought I could have gotten that answer based on what he has taught so far. Either I'm a bad student, he's a bad teacher or a mixture of the 2. I've found the other teachers on Treehouse to be clear and consistent, but am completely disheartened with Dave. I feel like he rushes ahead too much and just assumes we know what he knows. But maybe everyone else is finding him clear and it's just me.

No, it is not just you. Dave moves entirely too fast. Talking fast, typing fast, explaining fast, and expecting a full beginner to be able to follow along in a work space. Christ!!!
