Is Treehouse phasing out badges?

I doubt it. It's most likely just a glitch that came with the new layout that Treehouse is working on. There are other similar glitches: you get no message when you complete a quiz or a code challenge, for instance. You still get badges as usual, and you can find them on your user page.

I think Jacob Bergdahl is right, I have noticed that I don't get any alert when I complete any thing and it worried me a bit. Hopefully you're right!

No badges will be deleted. If you followed treehouse, you know what thier system is. Im deffinitely sure that this is a bug or something. They could make a change , but it dont get any good.

We're sorry for the confusion that this has caused! We have no plans to move away from badges nor hide the reward screen of when you receive a new badge. This has been brought to the attention of our developers who are currently looking into it.

We're having some difficulties replicating this. If any of you come across this, could you please share with us on what stages or courses this is happening on?

It's happening all through the javascript loops, arrays, and objects course on every single quiz or challenge. As well as me not seeing that I'm getting these badges!

Caleb Kleveter Right, thanks. I needed to clarify that you were indeed getting a pop-up. Your previous statement implied that you were not receiving anything, hence my concern. :)

Please note that you're still earning points and badges. The concern that folks in this thread are having is that the pop-ups that use to congratulate you on earning said points and badges are no longer appearing after completing a course/stage/code challenge/quiz completion. Those alerts have been intentionally replaced by the progress chart.

As mentioned above, our devs and designers are looking into changing this up and coming up with a better solution to avoid further confusion.

I do hope they bring the badge and points popups back. It gave that nice little reward shot of dopamine.

I'm having this problem with almost every course. Have badges been discontinued in some courses? I am currently a student in a class that my grade is based on the number of badges I earn and this is hurting my grade severely and has been doing so for about a month now. Basically the only courses that I get badges for now are the new ones that are being released. I am not even receiving badges in my profile a large amount of the time (if at all) and it is really concerning me.

robertturner4 badges have not been discontinued. Badges are still associated with every course. If you believe you haven't received badges for content you've completed, please send us an email at help@teamtreehouse.com and share links to the courses you've completed that you believe didn't net you a badge.

I show that this morning you were working on Build a Simple PHP Application, which is one of our older courses, and you earned a badge and points.
