Shawn Williams
Courses Plus Student 4,462 PointsIssues with streaming Treehouse videos.
I just became a member of the site and am having issues with the video streaming. I can seamlessly stream HD video from Lynda and Youtube, however the videos on this site will not stream without frequent, long pauses. Any suggestions to help me resolve this issue are greatly appreciated.

911 PointsJust joined today and I'm having the same issues. I have 30M down and 10M up and speedtests are good on my end. I also noticed that downloading the videos were at a very low 85kbps.

Shawn Williams
Courses Plus Student 4,462 PointsIt must be server side then. I hope they get this resolved soon.

Courses Plus Student 4,462 Points@James Thanks, I was just curious to see if it was a known issue since CS was closed today. I'll contact them tomorrow during business hours.

Tommy Morgan
Treehouse Guest TeacherLong story short, Shawn, it is a known issue... it just has a few dozen potential causes :) When you contact support they'll be able to walk you through a few quick troubleshooting steps to narrow in on the problem and help you get it resolved.

838 PointsHey @Shawn
try this...
1) Make sure you're running the most recent browser. 2) Depending on which browser you have try watching a video in Incognito Mode/Safe Mode. ** That disables almost all of your plugins so it's a good quick check to try to see if that might be the issue. We’ve noticed issues with DivX and HTTP Everywhere, for example.
If you're still having video woes shoot me an email for our emergency troubleshooting option help@teamtreehouse.com

39,199 PointsYou can change your setting in Treehouse to use Flash-based video instead of HTML5
If that doesn't work, there are a few things you can try ...
- Incognito/privacy mode
- Another browser
- Another computer

Shawn Williams
Courses Plus Student 4,462 PointsThank you all for the replies. I changed the setting to Flash-based and it appears to have resolved the issue. I'm using the current version of Chrome and have tried it in Firefox and IE as well but was having the same problem.

Shawn Williams
Courses Plus Student 4,462 PointsI think I spoke too soon.

911 PointsI'm not having any problems today from work, on the same laptop. I'll try when I get home. If its ISP related, I'll know shortly. @Shawn, are you a Time Warner customer?

Shawn Williams
Courses Plus Student 4,462 PointsI am at work and they use Time Warner as their provider. I'll be home tomorrow and am on ATT there. If I let the video sit for a few minutes, I can view it fine. As I stated, I don't have issues at all streaming HD from a couple of other sites, only this one.
