Java Java Objects Harnessing the Power of Objects Handling Exceptions

it prints

But gives an error

Example.java
class Example {

  public static void main(String[] args) {
    GoKart kart = new GoKart("purple");
    if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
      System.out.println("The battery is empty");
    }
    try {
    kart.drive(42);
    System.out.println("This will not heppen");
    }catch(IllegalArgumentException iae) {
      System.out.printf("You can't overdrive boss get some battery %s %n", iae.getMessage());
    }
    }

}
GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private int barCount;
  private String color;
  private int lapsDriven;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }

  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }

  public void drive() {

  public void drive(int laps) {
    if (laps > barCount) {
      throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not enough battery remaining");

This is interesting.

So you've probably already passed the challenge.

But I can tell you why you can't pass the challenge.

Solution

Refresh challenge. Just copy paste ONLY Example class from here. You will pass. DO not change anything in GoKart class

Explanation

For some reason, you changed the message thrown with exception in drive method.

So CORRECT method drive would be

  public void drive(int laps) {
    if (laps > barCount) {
      throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not enough battery remains");
    }
    lapsDriven += laps;
    barCount -= laps;
  }

Your method however has remaining in message

  public void drive(int laps) {
    if (laps > barCount) {
      // whatever you do in this method makes it wrong.
      // simply probably because Craig has written tests that does not take
      // into account the fact that you can change the message
      throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not enough battery remainining");
    }
    lapsDriven += laps;
    barCount -= laps;
  }

Does it make sense ?

Now the question would be , why did you change it ?

Yup it does but I did it right anyways Thanks
