iOS Build a Vending Machine App in Swift 2.0 Using the Vending Machine Displaying Icons with UIImage

It seems like VendingSelection is being created twice, explain to me how it's not, please

In VendingMachine.swift an enum named VendingSelection is comprised of several different cases, e.g. Soda, DietSoda, Chips, etc. Then in class Vending Machine an array is initialized of type VendingSelection, and that array is populated with .Soda, .DietSoda, .Chips, etc. I don't understand what's going on here. Why not just say selection gets all of the values of VendingSelection?
