WordPress WordPress for Website Owners Owning a WordPress Site Long Term Redesigning a WordPress Site

I've heard from a few sources that it is a good idea to redesign a website every 3 years, does this seem accurate?

I've heard that redesigning a site every 3 years helps to ensure the site is constantly meeting any new web standards that may arise, as well as new emerging design trends. Does this seem like a reasonable redesign period? Or should it be a shorter or longer time frame for a site redesign?

I think its different for every situation. Some people say "Good Designers Redesign, Great Designers Realign". Sometimes its not best to redesign and it can destroy a brand. Other times it makes sense to redesign. You can stay up to date with the latest technologies without redesigning everything.

For a case study, take a look at the BBC website (bbc.com/news). They are currently soliciting feedback on their redesign. Some of the changes are fairly drastic and this is a massively popular site for international news. Other changes are much more incremental. They are changing the color scheme, content presentation, and navigation.
