Java Help

Question: I have modeled an assistant for a tech conference. Since there are so many attendees, registration is broken up into two lines. Lines are determined by last name. Please help me fix the getLineFor method.

My Code:

ConferenceRegistrationAssistant.java
public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {

  public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
    /* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
       Otherwise send them to line 2 */
    int line = 0;
    if (lastName[0] <= 'm' ) {
      line = 1;
    } else {
      line = 2;
    }
    return line;
  }

}

you need to use the charAt() method. im not sure you can treat a string as an array of characters right out of the box in Java (though I might be wrong). to do that you would need to use the toCharArray method.

also be sure you use capital letters in your if statement as last names start with capital letters

public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {

  public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
    /* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
       Otherwise send them to line 2 */
    int line = 0;
    if (lastName.charAt(0) <= 'M' ) {
      line = 1;
    } else {
      line = 2;
    }
    return line;
  }

}

Why is the tasks completely differnt from the video?
