Java on my home machine?

I was wondering why they don't show us how to set up and run java from our computers? Something like installing a web server when we are going through PHP and what not. Workspace is nice but wouldn't it be better to set it up on a local machine?

It might come later in the course maybe, I just started it but was wondering. Anybody know why ??

I believe the Treehouse team does this to give people just starting out a easier and more rewarding first step. When they work in WorkSpaces the results are quick and require little knowledge but they can immediately see the effect they are having. Learning how to install something and get it all setup can be tedious and off-putting to a person just starting out.

Assuming you are on windows if you want to install it yourself you can get the jdk(java development kit) from here. Installing this should put java on your path so you can simply use command prompt to run and compile your code.

Thanks! I was thinking at some point I would have to put this on my PC. I might wait until I get my laptop and put it there, it is going to be only for running a test web server and java.
