JavaScript

Javascript sort() function

What Algorithm is used by the sort function ? Is it the stable merge sort or a version of quicksort ?

1 Answer

Excellent question, according to this thread on StackOverflow the answer is "it depends". Different browsers implement it differently and even within the same browser it looks like the contents of the array may play some role. That being said it looks like most browsers use a form of mergesort or quicksort.
