JS Techdegree - Pagination and content filter project: how do you create a search field and pagination using JS?

Hi, I'm working on the second project for the Fullstack JS Techdegree and am wondering if anyone who's worked through this project or who might know how to work this knows how to create a search field and pagination using JS? The previous courses leading up to this project included JQuery. Wondering about the best approach to this. Thanks
