I know basic html and css. I'm highly interested in trying to build a simple iOS app - should I start with a basic programming intro type course, or can I go ahead and jump in the iOS lessons on here?
Any tips? Or possibly a direction you'd recommend?

Good luck :)

9,884 PointsI concur. Besides it wouldn't hurt and if you already knew everything except one of the points in it, then it will be beneficial.
