The very first part of these will take you through HTML and CSS foundations and get you to the point of creating a simple website. However, if you want to learn how to make things move then I would recommend Front-end Web Development because you will also learn JavaScript using jQuery although that is not the only choice. Get through the first part of one of the tracks mentioned above to learn how to create a website and then you can decide your next step.

5,624 PointsOk, basically the very first learning block in each of the tracks I mentioned are the same thing. They are learning HTML and CSS which is what is used to create any basic website. That is the block you want to learn. Don't worry about learning a specific whole track right now, just get through that. Yes, you could learn WordPress but I think that might be a bit difficult for a newbie, especially if you do not understand HTML and CSS yet.

5,624 PointsSelect a track, one I mentioned. The Track is a set of learning blocks. You want to do the first learning block which is where the track will automatically start. You are welcome

5,697 PointsI would start with the Web Design track then check out the Front-end Web Development track. I'm currently doing the Front-end Web Development track and it is very informative.

12,122 PointsHi Johnathan, I can't afford photoshop or illustrator either, I'm using gimp for my day-to-day work - resizing, editing, tidying up images, (haven't come across a need to use it on treehouse yet), its open source and does everything I need it to do. About a zillion tutorials for it on youtube too!
