label and input, what kind of element are they? block or inline?

According to the MDN pages, label elements "are simple inline elements".
I didn't see an equivalent description on the page for input, possibly because there are many variations; but judging from their behavior, they are genenrally inline (or perhaps inline-block) by default.
A "block" element would take up an entire line and these don't.
