General Discussion

Live Search, with categories. Best Practices.

What languages would I need to learn to replicate a backend web database search function like the one found in hioscar?

Specifically the live querying of the database?

Edit: What is the most up to date best practice for this, I know it's possible with a few languages but is it more appropriate to build a 'web appy' type website or? ie: some js frameworks or libraries? and how is the data then sorted categorically?
