Localhost on MAMP doesn't display files on htdocs

Hi, I've followed the tutorial on setting up a MAMP server via the 'install PHP on Mac OS X' here on teamtreehouse, under the 'Becoming a PHP Developer' learning adventures. Encountered a problem after the installation, where it displayed "The requested URL /MAMP/ was not found on this server."... Got it sorted out via running this command in terminal: sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist

but right now I can't access the files test.php on the htdocs via localhost. Can anybody help me?

The above link is only relevant if you get an error message that contains something like could not find localhost.

As what James has pointed out, I have solved the problem of locating the localhost, right now, I would like to know how to get my Mac to display the index of files when pointing the url to just 'localhost', as shown in the tutorial.
