Make navigation bar line up with a logo along the header

Basically, every time I try to align my nav bar it drops below the logo in the top left. This is how it looks:

Logo------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nav bar

and I want it to look like this:

How do I stop the nav bar from dropping underneath the logo?
