I would like to use the built in dictionary in IOS, the one that does the spell check and use it to determine if a word that the user inputs is real.

39,021 PointsYou can use the UIReferenceLibraryViewController class method dictionaryHasDefinitionForTerm. It takes a String (your users' input) and returns a Bool (true if a definition exists, false if one does not).
Here's the documentation for UIReferenceLibraryViewController. In your case, you will never actually initialize the view controller - just use its class method.
