Making an instance of funFactLabel.text in the viewDidLoad() Function

What is the significance of creating an instance of funFactLabel.text in the viewDidLoad() function? Without it, the code still runs perfectly fine? Do we necessarily need it there even though we made an instance of it inside of the @IBAction outlet?
