MAMP doesn't start the MySQL Server which is linked in Dropbox. What now?

I installed MAMP 3 for Mac OS X. I wanna sync the MAMP db/mysql folder with Dropbox, so I created an alias from the MAMP/db/mysql folder to my folder in Dropbox. I followed the steps from this 2 links: http://www.hsrtech.com/wordpress/backup-projects-mamp-using-dropbox and http://simon-davies.name/mamp/syncing-mamp-with-dropbox

But when I open MAMP and start the servers, only the Apache server works and not the MySQL server. It think the problem occurs because MAMP and Dropbox are on different volumes. But if that is the problem, then I think it is weird that I can make an alias from the MAMP folder to the Dropbox folder that works.

Does someone else also have his MAMP database in Dropbox or has MAMP and Dropbox installed on different volumes?
