Mamp - localhost won't load index.php when I change the server path from htdocs to documents/sites/testsite1/index.php

I tried changing the file path from htdocs to my own documents folder - I went to preferences - web server and then changed the path from applications/mamp/htdocs to user/documents/sites/testsite1 (just like in the video) the index.php was created in atom and it is saved in this folder but it won't display the page.

when I change it back to mamp/htdocs/ the index.php displays just fine can anyone help solve my issue??

I just can't think what to do (I use Mac OSX)
