media queries horizontal vs vertical

Is it possible to specify media queries based on orientation of a device? For example max width for 600px when a device is vertical uses different styles from max width 600px when the device is horizontal. if yes, what does the code look like?

@Monika -

Why yes you can do that, here's how ...

Tablet in Landscape Mode

@media only screen and (device-width: 600px) and (orientation: landscape) {
      /* css rules */
}

Tablet in Portrait Mode

@media only screen and (device-height: 600px) and (orientation: portrait) {
      /* css rules */
}

Thank you!
