I believe dpi resolution is determined by 96 multiplied by the device pixel ratio. On more pixel dense displays (such as Apple retina devices) the pixel ratio is 2.

Since not every display has a device pixel ratio of two, the question didn't specify 1 or 2 as the set device pixel ratio.

Does that answer your question?
