media query not doing anything

@media screen and (min-width: 769px) { width: 70%; margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1000px; }

i also tried how it is just in the video @media (min-width: 769px) {} neither way is responding at all. using google chrome.

Best test is to just change the background color:

@media (min-width: 769px) {

     background-color: green;

}
