I did exactly the same thing on the video but my media rules are not working

The CSS media query is looking good.

Have you included a viewport meta tag into the head of your HTML document?

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">

I'm using sublime and chrome my keyword background is not workin when i use background-color it worked thx anyway

That's interesting because the background keyword should work the same as background-color. But I'm glad it's working for you now. :)
