Membership management plugin for wordpress.

Hello, I'm a member of a history society and I'm using Treehouse to learn web design so I can give our organizations website a much needed facelift.

I think once I go through the wordpress modules I can use a wordpress theme to give our site a nice, crisp professional look and feel.

In the current website, our hosting provider has some proprietary software that keep tracks of membership dues, who's paid, who hasn't, it send out reminders when someone needs to renew their membership, etc...

Does anyone have a suggestion for a wordpress plugin with similar functionality? If we ever move to a new hosting provider, I want the membership management piece to be portable.

Hi Heathe,

Here's a list of the official plugins found in the WordPress.org repository:

Pay attention to the plugin ratings and the number of ratings, the number of downloads and sort through them to make sure the plugin has all of the functionality you require. Perhaps the two most important things to pay attention to beyond that are: When was the plugin last updated by the plugin author? and Does the plugin author keep up semi-regularly in answering user questions in the plugin's support forum?

I have only gotten to work with one site so far that utilized a membership plugin, so I can't make a specific recommendation for you, but hopefully highlighting some of the things to look for when perusing the membership plugins can better help you guys pick out an up-to-date, well supported membership plugin that fits your needs.
