Mentor / Mentee

I'm wondering if anyone is interested in becoming a mentor/mentee. In a mentor, I am looking for someone to help guide me with CSS/JavaScript. In a mentee, I'd have to see a few requests to see if I can assist them.

For example, I'm working on a project, converting an old layout, that I'll call "table purgatory", to more modern standards - HTML5, Responsive Design. I have a fluid grid set up, however it is wrapping in some places that I want, and in other places I don't want it to wrap.

I am in Orlando, ideally a local would be preferred.

Hi Craig,

Awesome you're in Orlando! If I weren't so insanely busy I'd do this myself. :)

A couple thoughts:

  • As a start, do you want to post the address of your site here? I'm sure myself and other Treehouse members and staff would be happy to take a look.
  • You should check out BarCamp Orlando as it's definitely a great event to meet like-minded people in the area. I'll be there along with several other Treehouse employees.
  • We're working on ways to allow Treehouse students to work together. More details in the coming months.

I would love to signup to be both a mentor and mentee. If there are any upcoming beta tests on student collaboration tools I would be happy to set aside some time.

This sounds amazing and I would love to be a mentor/mentee. Im based out of Charlotte, NC.

Great idea Craig!

Nick - Thanks, I have registered for BarCamp.

I'm a little wary of posting the information publicly because it's work related.

Glad to hear you guys are working on a collaboration method. Sometimes someone can point out an issue in seconds, instead of you banging your head against it for hours!

Well. I would like a mentor. I usully has a problem with figuring something out, or getting an idea on how to get going with a website - just some overall help. So if somebody wanna help a newbie out, please do say!

Adam feel free to friend me on Facebook I will help out as I am able. Once they get the mentor / mentee system formalized I will be happy to mentor you.

Adam, on your TreeHouse profile the link to your Pacebook page is broken. I was attempting to reach out to you so provide assistance.

Removed.

I as well would like to find a mentor to help me when I have trouble. For the most part all the concepts and coding make sense to me after I learn them. I just have issues putting things into practice. I'm on CSS now.

Corey, you can hit me up if you like, probably DM me on Twitter would be best.

I actually don't use twitter. yea i'm one of the few. email is the best way to get a hold of me.

I really like this idea. I can see it as being built in as part of treehouse, almost as an extension of the forum system. I could check off skills/areas that I'm good at and one's that I need help in. Then when I post a question the people that signed up as mentors of those skills could be notified...
