General Discussion

Microsoft, Apple, Facebook ,Google

HI,

My question is about Microsoft, Apple, Facebook and Google.

I believe, these companies, are big and strong. They have a new technology as well as they all work in secret about something , even Nick and Jason said it about Google new bag or whatever thath was.

So my question is, why wont these companies come up togheter, and get all best technology in word, in one place to come up with something very very powerful, if thaths a new generation PC ,or whatever..

I know its business and its money, but their allready wealthy , and yeah , they still get and want more money and stuff... blah blah.. but why wont they just come up all togehter and come up with something from new generation.

I believe because of Steve Jobs , and other people, the project would be less , better?

Or maybe their allready doing something togheter?

Well, for starters, that's illegal. And for good reason. All those companies merged together would have a disgusting monopoly on the market. Monopolies are the bane of capitalism.

What is illegal and why?

Well, these companies you mention are located in the USA. America's economy is grounded in the principles of capitalism. The basic premise of a capitalist economy is that every member acts in their own rational self-interest. For this reason, monopolies are illegal.

Above you questioned why Microsoft, Facebook, Google and Apple don't merge into one behemoth. Well, one reason is that these companies are all publicly traded. Therefore, the general public has a potential stake in their successes and failures. Therefore, they are regulated by federal authorities, the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) in particular. The SEC makes sure that all the big corporations of the world, don't gang up on everyone else... that would be bad, wouldn't you agree?

Lol, seriously? Big companies cant merge? What if they work on secret stuff? like if i m the CEO of Apple , and ur of FB , and one of my ex employee goes to google, and we swap some of them , and work togehter as the head by word of mouth bby some other employee u know what i menan, and then in the end just merge the project : p?

What do you mean by monopolies?

Well, your saying kinda as its a criminal think thouhg. I mean , to merge them and have actually useful thing to the word. Meaning make the word better . Sure, they can have FBI in there thath knows about the stuff thier doing and the subject its self as well just in case.

I mean, china, USA, whatever. are making robots now.. they are bad ill say.. but what if they merge togheter? i mean, its Military thath its doing robots as well..

Plus with companies like i mentioned , i mean, i believ ethier must be good?

But i dont get it, i heared everything has holes no matter how secure it is. SO if they make a terminator, and sm1 hacks it ....

You're oversimplifying things Konrad. This is really an economic viability issue. You can sit there and daydream about the cool "robots" that these corporate entities could make "together", but in reality a corporation exists for a single purpose β€”Β this purpose is to increase quarterly earnings/profit. This is accomplished through various avenues, but mainly, it's all about market share. There is no viable scenario in which direct competitors of a given industry can all win. And if they seem like they care about the "greater good" (whatever that may mean) it's only in so far as it helps their individual bottom lines. And this is FINE... completely acceptable... because it works. This is Capitalism.

Capitalism succeeds because, in any given market, there are multiple players β€” competition keeps those players on point ... and, for lack of a better word, honest. Competition prevents any one player from being able to dictate price, for instance. Without competition, the forces of supply and demand don't exist, or become corrupt to the point of worthlessness. Without supply and demand, the concept of money effectively loses meaning.

Yo Konrad.

I see what you're saying. However competition is healthy. If you just have one company that rules all and has no competition. Then they wouldn't care so much about trying to win us over. Competition is healthy in a sense that all these companies are trying to win us over producing the best products or services.

Yes, but if these companies merge, to have some next generation technology?

Competition, yes, they could do teams, but they could do the merge as the scientific people do . They just try the best to look at the universe and stuff. What if the technology merge into a piece? instead of having it in different pieces and re-inventing the wheel? im sure, the companies, ask for help from each other , maybe? at least as Steve Jobs asked help in float point from Microsoft i as he said .

But the point is, to have s uper next future technology merging these companies. COmpanies means people. Like Steve Jobs with Bill Gates, with whoever is the best and is on top ,u know what i mean.

I'm going ahead and going to let you believe what you like. :)
