Mobile First and Drupal

I want to learn Drupal, but should it be 7 or 8? My main concern is sticking with a Mobile First approach. It seems Drupal 7 teaches you to take full screen sites to mobile, where as Drupal 8 is Mobile First. But is Drupal 8 in widespread use/demand as Drupal 7?

Which one to learn?

Hi Jenn,

Drupal 8 has definitely been built with mobile first in mind --- however so have a lot of themes in Drupal 7! All main themes in Drupal 7 will have mobile-first frameworks as that is the acceptable standard now. For example you could download the mobile first bootstrap theme for Drupal 7 and use that.

Drupal 8 is stable and usable but a lot of contributed modules have not been released as stable versions yet so a lot people are holding off. It depends what sort of features you want! :)

I hope you decide to learn Drupal! It has an amazing community and Drupal can do everything!

Thanks,

Tawny.
