I cannot find what I am doing incorrectly.

shopping_list.rb

def create_shopping_list
    hash = { "title" => "Grocery List", "items" = [] }
    return hash
end

You forgot the -> after the items key that's needed when creating a hash.

def create_shopping_list
    hash = { "title" => "Grocery List", "items" =>[] }
    return hash
end

def create_shopping_list hash = { "title" => "Grocery List", "items" => [] } end we dont need to add the return hash while using [] it will return.
