You have 3 drive methods at the bottom of the script. Take a closer look at what the challenge is asking for. You want to modify the existing drive method to accept an argument- so add a parameter. Then you need to use that parameter to update lapsDriven and barCount, adding the value passed in to lapsDriven, and subtracting the value from barCount. I hope this helps.

 public void drive(int laps) {
    lapsDriven += laps;
    barCount -= laps;
  }

This is your code:

public void drive() { lapsDriven++; barCount--; public void drive() { lapsDriven++; barCount--; }

public void drive(int numberOfLaps) { while (numberOfLaps > 0) { drive(); numberOfLaps--; }

what the problem is asking for is for you to just modify actual method to accept an int paramater:

public void drive(int laps) {

}

next inside that method

you add the actual laps driven by parameter like so:

lapsDriven = lapsDriven + laps;

and do the same for barCount:

barCount = barCount + laps;

if you still have questions please let us know.

final code should look like this:

class GoKart { public static final int MAX_BARS = 8; private String color; private int barCount; private int lapsDriven;

public GoKart(String color) { this.color = color; }

public String getColor() { return color; } public void charge() { barCount = MAX_BARS; }

public boolean isBatteryEmpty() { return barCount == 0; }

public boolean isFullyCharged() { return MAX_BARS == barCount; }

public void drive(int laps) { lapsDriven+= laps; barCount-= laps; } }

ok thank you
