Moving from Student to Employee as Front End Web Developer?

I've done the Front-End Web Development Track, taken additional course like D3.js and locally I have been participating in the tech community - this passed weekend I participated in a Hackathon and with my team won an Oculus VR headset which was nice.

But I want a job, right? To be paid for programing. I dont know that I'm ready. The hackathon had people much more knowledgeable than I was. And though I appreciate the help of treehouse videos, without which I wouldn't know 10% of what I know today, I think I need more real world experience.

I can't go right into a paid position full time, it would be good to have an internship or a few project jobs.

Does anyone here have an experience they could share about how they're progressing as a front-end web dev? what they are doing to find employment? (or if you've found a job, what your path was like?)

I think youd need to have a lot of projects you can show the employer that will instantly prove your skill level. Then your guaranteed job if you show them skill they cant ignore

like this girl would have a good shot at jobs because she made 180 cool websites in 180 days: http://jenniferdewalt.com/

Sure treehouse is okay if your complete beginner, but when i really learn is when i make my own projects, too much time on treehouse without enough practice and i forget things and waste time.
