My First Website

Hi Everyone. Here is a link to my first website. It's taken a few months. I thought I had it finished last week, but I keep returning and tweaking it on a daily basis. Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated! May the tweaking continue http://www.kemotion-personal-training.com/index.php

Hi, nice start. I am not sure about the Nav being left aligned it leaves it looking a little bit empty on other side, also not keen on the font at all looks typewriter-ish (made up word I know). I do like the actual layout but not too sure of the colors, LESS IS MORE. I like the little logo's for goals, testing and process. But the actual site logo could do with a little more to make it pop in my opinion. Can see you used Bootstrap but some of the pages the right side is too bare. The theme seems more techy than for fitness. Hope not being too harsh. PS - I used to be a PT so its a site i know the industry off. Also your social media icons are way to big they are getting more space than the own companies logo.

Thanks for your excellent feedback. I really appreciate the time you've taken to have a little think about how I can improve the site. I've spent the last couple of hours implementing the changes. Navbar is now centred and the social media icons are smaller. In terms of font- do you have any suggestions for alternatives that I could consider?

Looking better already. Mentioned some fonts at bottom. No problem happy to help

I've also put a new div under the image as I think the text reads better in a div rather than overlaying the image. In the 'Flagship Programs' section, I don't like the colour of the grey box on the left hand side but do like the overall layout. Any thoughts on colours? I'm also going to get these to correspond to the same colour as the large image when you click through to the program details. I'm concerned about your thoughts on the theme being more tech than fitness. How can I make it more fitness? Would this require a substantial overhaul?

https://kuler.adobe.com/create/color-wheel/ great for choosing color schemes

Just look at fitness related websites and posters and see what kind of mood they put across. Also google colors for fitness industry to get a base then use kuler to get a scheme. It was more the font you had that made it look techie.

Really nice. A few comments on the design.

  • Maybe try a lighter colour scheme, it seems really dark.
  • Try center the navigation.

Other than that... bloody good work!

Thanks Thomas. Nav is now centred. Had some issues with how it was breaking, so kinda cheated initiated the toggle menu earlier.

You actually have two options, center the nav OR align the header image left. You don't have to center the nav for balance.

If this is your first site, it's great. I personally like the bold, unique color scheme. Don't ever be afraid to look different. My only issue is that your slider is kinda useless. It looks fine but you're missing an opportunity to explain the programs you want to highlight on the slides. Maybe just one quick sentence to explain why someone would want to click on that slide.

Nice work for a first website! One suggestion I'd have is looking at using a different font for the body text. LetterGothicStd seems a bit abrasive to me. Hard to focus on the text, which makes it tough to read. That might just be me though.

That was my feeling with the font too.

Thanks Matt and Adam. Any suggestions on what font to use that would be less abrasive?

Its all about choice and experimenting really a few i can think of my head are Roboto Slab and Open sans. Try other sans-serif fonts and see what looks right really

Good job man!
