My solution to the challenge at the end of the video

function addHighlighting(element) {
  element.addEventListener('focus', event => {
    event.target.className = 'highlight';
  });
  element.addEventListener('blur', event => {
     event.target.className = '';
  });
}

addHighlighting(nameInput);
addHighlighting(messageTextArea);

Seems to work as well!
