PHP Integrating PHP with Databases Databases and PHP Getting Started with PDO

MySQLi Question

Do these magic constants such as DIR only work in sqlite?

Or do they work as well in MySQLi? And if so should I be using them in MySQLi?

I am using phpMyAdmin v7.1.1

My current connection looks something like this....

<?php
$servername = "localhost";
$username = "root";
$password = "";

try {
    $conn = new PDO("mysql:host=$servername;dbname=database", $username, $password);
    // set the PDO error mode to exception
    $conn->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION);
    echo "Connected successfully";
    }
catch(PDOException $e)
    {
    echo "Connection failed: " . $e->getMessage();
    }

var_dump($conn);
