Not exactly. \n produces a line ending sequence that is compatible with Unix-style systems like Linux, Mac OS, etc. But won't work on other systems that use other line endings, like Windows which uses \r\n.

The %n placeholder will automatically insert the right line ending based on the system it is currently running on.
