Didn't get the right content in the groups. Last name was "Perotto,", first name was "Pier".

whats missing in my code?

Your answer works but ''' is for a multiline. The following works aswell:

names = re.match(r' ([-\w ]*),\s ([-\w ]+) ', string, re.X)
