Navigation Bar floats around when responsive design is applied.

I'm taking the How to Make a Website course, and I've added the responsive CSS design just as what's shown in the video, but my navigation bar no longer aligns with top of the page, but floats to the top right side of the window when stretched bigger than 680px.

Here's the responsive media query that I wrote according to the video: nav { float:right; font-size:1.125em; margin-right: 5%; text-align:right; width:45%; }

and here's the main CSS code for the navigation bar: nav { text-align:center; padding: 10px 0; margin: 20px 0 0; }

nav ul { list-style: none; margin: 10px 10px; padding: 0; }

nav li { display:inline-block; }

nav a { font-weight:800; padding: 15px 10px; }

i've tried other people's methods, but none of them work. I would really appreciate your help!
