Android Build a Simple Android App (2014) Improving Our Code Adding More Colors

need help, challenge seems to have not much in common with video lesson.

video teaches how to add color wheel and how to change text color in xml section. but seems to show nothing on changing text color, I'm sure I'm wrong, just a little frustrating because it seems like something we have not gone over in previous video.
