need help on master class (challenge task 2 of 3)

I am getting the error: "Bummer! Be sure to set the laps attribute to 0"

racecar.py
class RaceCar:
    def __init__(self, color, fuel_remaining, **kwargs):
        self.color = color
        self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining

        for key, value in kwargs.items():
            setattr(self, key, value)

    def run_lap(self, length):
        self.fuel_remaining -= length * 0.125
        self.laps += 1

you should set

self.laps = 0

they say in the task:

and add a laps attribute to the class, set to 0, and increment it each time the run_lap method is called.

Thanks! I also needed to remove "laps" from the init argument. It works now.

you are trying to run

self.laps += 1

but never gave self.laps an initial value.

might be it ?

class RaceCar: laps=0 def init(self, color, fuel_remaining, **kwargs): self.color = color self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining

    for key, value in kwargs.items():
        setattr(self,key, value)

def run_lap(self,length):
    self.fuel_remaining -= (length * .125)
    self.laps += 1

Remove operators and try this

class RaceCar:

def __init__(self, color, fuel_remaining, **kwargs):
    self.color = color
    self.laps = 0
    self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining

    for key, value in kwargs.items():
        setattr(self, key, value)

def run_lap(self, length):
    self.fuel_remaining = self.fuel_remaining - length * 0.125
    self.laps = self.laps + 1
