You are pretty close, in the exception handler, it looks like you were trying to call a println method with 2 parameters which doesn't exist. In this case you just need to print the message from the exception:

  public static void main(String[] args) {
    GoKart kart = new GoKart("purple");
    if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
      System.out.println("The battery is empty");
    }
    try{
    kart.drive(42);
    }catch(IllegalArgumentException laps){
      System.out.println(laps.getMessage());
    }

}
