General Discussion

Need opinions, advices, etc about a brand

Hello guys, I've been here for the last 3 or 4 months, and decided to start working on my own portfolio because some friends from this community told me to do it because is very important.

I did it already http://marcelors.me/marceloretsal/

My name: Marcelo Retana, my brand The Bastard's Designs.

What do you think about the brand's name?

The reason I am asking that is because the word "Bastard" is in the name, so if I send my portfolio to any person which is interested on my work, what should that person think? Will not take me in consideration? it is good? bad?

Tell me, guys. I need words from other people.

It could definitely work against you, however it could just as easily work for you... To make it work for you though you will need to keep the brand consistant. What I mean by that is that your website does not reflect your harsh brand name. I clicked on your website expecting an in your face dirty bold design but instead I saw a template, that doesn't back up the brand.

If I were you and were looking to stick with this brand name I would try to find your inner voice and be try to yourself! Ask yourself a couple of questions:- have I choosen this brand name because I was fed up of trying to come up with one? Or is it because I actually do love it? Or am I trying to stand out from a crowd? If it's the later then I would reconsider your brand name unless you can reflect that name throughout your design and work. If it's that you love it then I would go back to the drawing board. Do some research...

Hope this helps.
