I want to purchase a new laptop for development work. Could be used for web development, angular, node.js, mongo, android studio, swift, etc. I want 2 machines 1) apple 2) windows. what do your recommend i purchase.

31,009 PointsJust get an apple. You can install windows on apple with vm software or you can dual boot.
i5 8gb and ssd should be totally fine.

I personally own multiple devices. Though, I hate emulating when doing device/browser testing because I've found over time that there can still be issues even I use something else to view that device.
For Windows I personally went with a Lenovo ideapad y700 specs: Intell i7 with 16gb and dedicated graphics. Though I do tend to do some graphics/video work. This is more than powerful enough to run just about anything you would need and then some.
Mac I have found to be a little easier to setup development on overall but just slightly. Personally, I prefer to go with 16 gb for ram vs 8 but I also tend to run quite a bit at once.
