New Feature Announcement: Reset your progress!

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to announce a long-awaited new feature on Treehouse: A Learning Progress page where you can see and reset your progress for individual activities or entire tracks!

If you'd like to start over on any track, course, or workshop, resetting your progress will make it appear as you've never watched it. The content will be removed from the In Progress or Completed sections of your home page and all included videos, quizzes, and code challenges will have to be completed again. You can also choose to delete any workspaces that you created along the way. To leave you with a record of your accomplishments, a progress reset won't affect your badges or points.

This feature has been one of the most popular requests from our students and we hope it helps you on your learning journey! Please continue to share your feedback with us here or through our Support team.

Note: This is feature is not yet available for organization accounts.

It's nice to know things like this are still being done after some of the other recent announcements. I'll be looking forward to when this gets added to organizations so I can use it, too.

When helping someone here in the forum, I often visit pages for courses I have not taken, so it will be great to be able to clear that "progress" after posting an answer.

Great news!

This gives added impetus and motivation to revisit videos and courses during my learning, which I frequently do! Especially when Tracks are updated! :)

Aren't mods also in organization accounts?

I’ve already been able to reset my Beginning Python track, as well as a separate course.

All I see is "Bummer! This feature is not available for your account."

Awesome! Glad to see this finally implemented! Thanks to the team for what I'm sure must have taken a lot of hard work to pull off.

I personally suggested this a while ago. Nice to see this added :)

Is this related to my current day's value in the daily progress tracker resetting to zero of its own accord that I've been experiencing over the last few days??

Hi Brian,

The reset progress feature shouldn't affect your points total. Indeed when you take the course again you will not receive points for the stages you redo.

It sounds like you're experiencing some sort of issue with the API behind the scenes which is affecting your points total.

The best thing to do is to enquire about it with the Treehouse Support team which you can find here help@teamtreehouse.com

Good luck! :)

@Jonathan – Thanks for the quick response. Sorry I wasn't more clear; my points are unaffected (at least, as far as I can tell). Rather I was referring to the daily progress "graph". I'll be cruising along, bumping the curve point upwards, then I'll finish the next segment (video, quiz, or exercise) and it'll be back at zero for the day.

Not hugely important in the grand scheme of things (especially when compared to losing points!), but it is somewhat deflating & frustrating.

So I just signed up for a local coding academy and have finished some of their prework as is. Is there a way to reset my points so I can be more actively competitive with my class mates on the leader boards? I full intend to refresh by going through them again anyway, as it was several months ago when I finished them. If not it's fine, as I'll be challenging myself anyway, but I hate the idea of it looking like I'm a slacker because I finished the work before it was tracked to my class lol.
